Professor for accordion at the music academy of the University of East Sarajevo
Dragan Ribić studied accordion in East Sarajevo with Prof. Danijela Gazdić and in Detmold with Prof. Grzegorz Stopa and attended international masterclasses among others with Teodoro Anzzelotti and Janne Rättyä.
He participated in more than 30 international accordion festivals and competitions. In 2015, Ribić won first prize in the accordion solo category and a special prize at the seventh international music competition and festival for soloists and chamber music Svirel in Nova Gorica (Slovenia). In June 2015 he won the DAAD Prize 2015 for the best foreign student of the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold. In 2016, Dragan Ribić received the “Junge Kunst” prize from Volksbank Paderborn-Höxter-Detmold. Most recently, in 2017, he was a jury member at the competition for students of the german music academies D-bü in Berlin.
The Bosnian-born accordionist was a fellow of the Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina) sovereign fund “Dr. Milan Jelić”, which honors only the best students with above-average grades. During his studies in Germany, Ribić was also a fellow of the Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S, the Werner Richard – Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation and the association Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Münsterland.
Dragan Ribić has a diverse repertoire. It includes classical works from baroque to contemporary music.
Concert performances led Dragan Ribić as a soloist and chamber musician to Radbod Klassik Festival, to the Langenberg Festival, to the literature and music festival “Wege durch das Land”, to the Klosterfestival in Höxter, to the Schwetzinger SWR (Südwestrundfunk – Southwest Broadcasting) Festspiele, but also abroad, to the Ljubljana (Slovenia) Festival, Iceland, South and Central America (Ecuador and Costa Rica). He was heard live on the radio, among others, at the Ljubljana Festival, in the 3rd program Radio Slovenija, at the Langenberg Festival on WDR 3 (Westdeutscher Rundfunk – West German Broadcasting), and at the Schwetzingen SWR Festspiele on SWR.
Dragan Ribić works with composers Dražan Kosorić, Dalibor Đukić, and Volker Staub, among others.
Ribić premiered Kosorić’s work for solo accordion “Epitaf” and recorded it on a CD of his auteur music. This composition was published by the publishing house EDITION AVANTUS. In 2018 he premiered the piece “Fidgety” for solo accordion, which was dedicated to him by the composer Dalibor Đukić.
