Ruben Staub is a founding member of
One Earth Orchestra and has worked with the band since 2011.


His committed and consistent involvement with the band as well as the numerous compositons he has contributed to their repertoire including “Three Bulgarian Dances”, “Aya Uma” and “Palindrome” released on their debut album Journey, “Siren” released on !K7 Records’ album Wind Layers as well as the recently recorded cycle of songs based on poetry by Rolf Jacobsen have let to him taking on the role of band leader.

On concert tours to India, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Costa Rica, the band have collaborated and performed with a vast number of musicians from diverse musical backgrounds including projects with indigenous communities like the Kadar (Kerala, Indien), the Q'eros (Cusco, Peru) or the Bribri (Talamanca, Costa Rica).
Another especially inspiring project of cultural exchange in Ecuador lead him to compose the piece “Aya Uma” that features a traditional flute melody the band learned from the local community of the Otavalos in a three-day collaboration. It also serves to preserve the memory of the extraordinairy encounter in a musical form.
